Health & Safety
For more information about Health & Safety and avoiding illness in Kenya, see here.
Please make sure you let the Moving Mountains team know of any pre-existing medical conditions or any concerns you have. Before you go, also make sure you speak to your GP or travel health clinic, receive all the relevant immunisations and obtain the appropriate anti-malaria tablets. Also ensure that you have the appropriate travel insurance for your trip, covering the correct locations, activities and any pre-existing medical conditions.
In addition to the advice above, it's also important to remember to look after yourself and your team mates. This sounds obvious but perhaps vague at the same time. It is important to take responsibility for yourself and to take an active role in looking out for the rest of your team. Talk to your team members and Moving Mountains staff if you have any concerns or worries, as talking through things and getting advice from others can be particularly helpful.
Please read Adventure Alternative's webpage on HIV and Hepatitis for information about this. This information contains guidance on measures to protect clinical health care workers against occupational infection with blood-borne viruses. It is based on the recommendations of the Expert Advisory Group on AIDS and the Advisory Group on Hepatitis.
