Visas & entry requirements - Kenya

Visitors to Kenya must be in possession of a valid passport and a visa for Kenya. Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Kenya. You also need to make sure you have two blank pages in your passport on arrival. Please see the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for up to date information regarding visas and entry requirements for Kenya.

The Government of Kenya rolled out an online visa application portal which became compulsory for all visitors from September 2015. All visa applicants are now required to apply and pay for visas online before they travel to Kenya (using Internet Explorer may cause problems when making the application, so it is better to use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome). However, due to some technical problems with the e-Visa application you can still get a visa on arrival in Kenya.

Single entry visas can be applied for on the eVisa website. All other types of visa can be obtained from the Kenya High CommissionVisitors to Kenya are advised to register their application well in advance of travel as approvals throught the eVisa website may take up to seven days to process.

Please read the comprehensive and up to date information about visas for Kenya on the Adventure Alternative website, as this outlines how to go about obtaining a visas and practicalities such as the address to write on your form.
